I want to make beautiful objects. I feel that there is functionality in beauty. I want to provide people with an experience akin to what they can have when listening to music. Music affects the listener directly, without going through the language part of the brain. This gives them a chance to take a vacation from the environment of tweets, texts, flashing billboards, televisions, and the ever present background chatter of people talking on their cell phones. I use marks, patterns, transparency and repetition to create a mysterious visual experience. Like when listening to harmonics create a third sound, it is my hope that the viewer can be transported from the quotidian to a fleeting but powerful place where you feel you are being split in two and at the same time being made whole for the first time.
