Artist's Statement
I want my work to feel grown rather than designed. Repetitive processes, making big things out of many small things, allow me to create work that is an interaction between the material and me. The gradual accumulation of marks, whether they are sticks, charcoal or glass parts, allows the material to pushback. The repetition involved in this way of working is my gateway into a state of flow and I like to think of the resultant work as a vessel for that state of flow and the accumulated experience of making, holding the calm and struggle I had while producing the work and allowing the viewer to share in it.
